I seem to have gotten myself into something, and I'm not sure as to the intelligence of said venture.  I have told/promised at least three, possibly four people to help them with their garb for next season.  I'm fairly confident as to my ability with most things, right up to noble bodices and doublets.  

I guess it's something I'm gonna have to practice.  *grin* 

Okay, it's been a while since I've done any real kind of blog post at any of my blogs (excepting my recent rant at LJ about my arsehole of a father). I blame my vacation two weeks ago and a week of catch-up at work, coupled with absolutely no internet whatsoever on Friday. Plus, there's family in town from out of state and I've been running around since.

Things will slow down momentarily this weekend, only for me to run away again next weekend for the wedding of the sister of a former school chum... tho it will mean I won't be at dress rehearsal for MIRF, which makes me a little sick to my stomach. I'm planning a big push this weekend to get all but the overskirt and French Hood done, so I can just whip those two out quickly. Wish me luck!

Yes, I bought and finished HP7; at the moment I'm a little disgruntled as to the outcome with regards to a few of my favourite characters so I can't make a more or less rational review. Let's just say I never have and never will ship Lupin/Tonks, no matter that it's canon. *crosses arms and pouts like a 2 year old*

Job wise: I will be given the opportunity to take over from the Princess when she moves later this fall. If I can't get a nanny gig by mid-September, I'll take it. Bennies and a pay rise; I'd be a fool to pass it up right now. I'll be down to PB&J and ramen soon. *sigh* Ah, well. Hopefully it will help me lose weight!

I'm working on some writing, but not getting very far. I have a few new stories that want developing and fleshing out. Lately I've just been distracted by family craziness and Harry Potter. One story is a Neil Gaiman-esque gothic thingie where trees talk to a lonely little boy. It's set mostly in a cemetery. The other is a kind of wishful thinking fantasy of mine: a girl agrees to house sit for her grandmother...who lives in Australia. That one's just an excuse to use all the snappy one-liners and innuendos that have been piling up in my various notebooks... one of which got left in a little cabin waaaaay in the UP. *sigh*

I really should be sewing.

I've just gotten word that there is a possible nanny position for me, and I'll be hopefully be recommended soon.   It's just the start of the process, but I need all the good mojo I can get! 

My Very Dear Mother gave me a Forgotten English Word of the Day Calendar for Christmas last year, and I naturally have saved every little slip of paper in case I actually wanted to use the word inscribed there upon.

I haven't looked at the dang thing since mid-April.  I am currently cleaning my kitchen (remain calm, citizens) in preparation for a short-notice vacation and came upon the sad little calendar lying face-down on the scrap of counter between fridge and stove... To elaborate on just how badly my kitchen needs cleaning: I cannot for the life of me recall the approximate date of when I last used the stove, and there are containers of leftovers in my fridge that are ready to walk out.

But true!  my tyrranical Princess of a boss has decreed that it is possible that I take a week off work in early July, unpaid of course.   I don't mind that so much, as every moment spent away from her is a Godsend, and I get to spend time with the rest of my family, who I don't see as often as I see my boss (who is also my cousin, for those who neither know nor care).

I've also gotten a pay raise.  A whole quarter more an hour, but better than what I was expecting, which was nothing.  The best part is that it's retroactive, going back to February, which is when it was supposed to go into effect.  My boss was on maternity leave, and her boss didn't pay attention to what he was supposed to do in order for the paperwork to be filed and all sorts of other fun shit, but whatever.  I'm getting an extra hundred bucks or so just in time for my vacation... *wide grin*

Hmm... this cookie tastes a little freezer-y.  Yuck.  *pitch*

Anyway.  It's been a weird week or so for me.  I've been very busy, between Work, Work 2, Family and Festival prep.  No, my costume isn't done; I've just got to set the grommets into my corset and all will be well...

I hope to figure out my vacation plans for this summer.  My family rents a cottage up in Big Bay, MI for two weeks, and this year those dates are 7/7-7/22.  I didn't know that until last weekend, so now I have to sweet-talk my way into getting a week off with very short notice.  I forsee problems with that... Is it so wrong that I want to spend time with family members I haven't seen in years?
